Luciano Tovoli, ASC, AIC, Executive Director, Cinematographer's Day
Luciano Tovoli, ASC, AIC works internationally, but primarily in Italy, France and the USA. He has made 65 films in his 43 year career as Cinematographer. As a director, he has made several documentaries and commercials, and one feature film starring Marcello Mastroianni, General of the Dead Army. Mr. Tovoli is past President of the Italian Society of Cinematographers [AIC], an active member of the American Society of Cinematographers [ASC], and an honorary member of the Swedish Society [FSF]. He has contributed to the creation of the Spanish [AEC] and Belgian [SBC] Societies.

In 1981 with his friends Gabriele Lucci and Nestor Almendros, he established the first [in film history] International Festival of Cinematographers in l'Aquila, Italy, attended in the following years by 350 cinematographers and 1500 film students from throughout the world. In 1992 he conceived and implemented the European Federal of Cinematographers [IMAGO], whose 1600 cinematographer members represent more than 20 European countries. Cinematographer's Day Luciano Tovoli's brainchild.
Mr. Tovoli founded his film development company, Blue Sky Sviluppo s.r.l. in 2005 with offices in Rome and Palm Springs.

David B. Kaminsky, M.D., Chairman, Cinematographer's Day
Dr. David B. Kaminsky, under the guidance of Luciano Tovoli, initiated Cinematographer's Day at the Palm Springs International Film Festival as an annual event in 1999. Dr. Kaminsky is past-Vice Chairman of the Festival and for many years served as the programmer for Italian cinema which earned him the Cavaliere della Repubblica Award from the Italian government [2003]. He is Executive-Producer of the Oscar-nominated short documentary film Still Kicking: the Fabulous Palm Springs Follies and producer of the short documentary, Paint Me A Future which won the Special Jury Prize at the Palm Springs Festival of Short Films.

David Kaminsky, M.D.

Dr. Kaminsky has a strong interest in Italian and Brazilian cinema and the art and technology of cinematography. He is currently the programmer for Brazilian and Italian Cinema in addition to Cinematographer's Day at the Bangkok International Film Festival.

Frederic Goodich, ASC, Associate Chair, Cinematographer's Day
Frederic Goodich, ASC ( www.FredericGoodich.com) is a noted cinematographer whose most recent features, include: G.I. Jesus (winner CineVegas Grand Prize), Surviving Eden and The Affair. His other feature films include Lay Of The Land, Fear No Evil and For Love Of The Game (2nd unit). His Board & Care won an Academy Award for Best Dramatic Short. An award-winning DP in commercials [having shot over 900], Mr. Goodich also shoots cable movies, fashion videos, music videos and documentaries.
According to the NY TIMES, his cinematography on GI JESUS “… is such a clever visualization of wartime trauma infecting postwar life that it’s bound to be ripped off by movies with bigger budgets and less serious ambitions.” Mr. Goodich was Chairman of Cinematographers Forum for 2 years at the Newport Beach Film Festival, and (in addition to 6 years with Cinematographers Day) has participated with Dr. Kaminsky in events celebrating, among others, the work of cinematographers Dante Spinotti and Laszlo Kovacs. He credits his career path to an early love for foreign and silent cinema and a job as film handler at New York's MOMA Film Library.

Frederic Goodich

Mr. Goodich is currently an instructor at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles where he teaches the Advanced Camera Technique and Lighting Workshop and conducts the Cinematography Forum.
